The contents of this collection include a scrapbook created by Earle Bechtel to document his time as a student at Penn State from 1919 to 1923. The scrapbook contains many newspaper articles, bulletins and notes, mostly pertaining to the football team. There are several photographs documenting groups in military uniforms and officers. The cadet regiment at Penn State, composed of all physically qualified male freshmen and sophomores (juniors and seniors were not required to participate) were involved in weekly drill periods. In addition to photographs of the Penn State campus itself (both from the ground and aerial views), Mr. Bechtel included pictures of several student events, such as "Poverty Day," "Push-Ball Scrap," "Tie-up Scrap," and "Tug-of-war." There are photographs of the fire in Weaver Building. There is also a photograph of Governor William Sproul visiting campus in the fall of 1920.
